AT first glance, Nailsworth is not the most attractive of Cotswold towns. To the east of the road, squeezed into a narrow valley, stand the old cloth mills, now converted to other purposes. For anyone interested in industrial architecture, 18thcentury Dunkirk Mill is the most notable building. Behind the mills, former packhorse ways climb steeply up to Minchinhampton Common. One of the hills rising out of the town is so steep it is known locally as Nailsworth Ladder. Well maintained footpaths link Nailsworth with the village of Avening, which has its own dense network of narrow lanes crammed with old cottages. The church of Holy Cross occupies a steep, sloping site and is Saxon in origin, though it was rebuilt by the Normans.

UK Transmitter Help UK transmitters are arranged in groups with main transmitters, here shown in bright white, covering general geographical areas, and relays sub-transmitters , here shown in off white, filling holes in the coverage of the main transmitters. Most main transmitters and some relays transmit all six main digital mux es, some of which also transmit further local muxes, but most relays only transmit the three PSB muxes. Note that I am aware of some data conflicts between sources, and while I have endeavoured in good faith to resolve these correctly, it’s unlikely that I have succeeded in every case, and while I apologise in advance for any errors that may be here, I accept no responsibility for their consequences.

Every generation thinks it invented sex, humour, idealism etc. As we get older we see there are no simple, big solutions and so don’t just make everything better.

Could have been perfect! This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Our room was a good size, with a king size bed, very clean and with good quality sheets and towels. It’s a very old building with low beams and very uneven floors. The restaurant has a waterwheel. Unfortunately we couldn’t eat in the restaurant, as it was fully booked, which was annoying as our stay had been booked before Christmas, and booking an evening meal had never been offered.

Share this article Share Later in the day, she confronted her partner when a doctor told her they suspected the injuries might not have been accidental. She told the jury: He later told police it was food that went down the wrong way, before changing his story to suggest that his girlfriend had caused bruising to his head before she went to work, the court was told. But pathologist Peter Fleming, of the University of Bristol, told the court that Jordan would have immediately shown signs of being hurt, rather than two hours later.

He added that Jordan had not suffered any natural disease, concluding that his death must have been caused by a trauma. He is no doubt devastated by the death of his son but he is the reason why is son died,’ she said. On the same day that Ms Watts found out the news, her mother’s partner died and Ward’s father passed away only a few days later. It triggered low mood in the defendant, who became unable to work full time and eventually lost his job, the court heard.

It meant that, when Jordan was born, Watts was often left in the sole care of his father while Ms Watts went out to work as a waitress at Giraffe restaurant. The court heard how, in the days leading up to Jordan’s death, he was stressed and tired, particularly at feeding times. The jury was also told that Ward was sometimes ‘aggressive’ and ‘controlling’ and had, in the past, challenged his girlfriend about whether he was the father of their child.

He previously slapped Jordan’s face, leaving him with red marks and crying hysterically, the court hard. As a result, Ms Ward left with the baby and only agreed to return when Ward sent a message begging her for forgiveness and agreeing to go to anger management classes.

The town played an important role in the great days of the woollen industry and wool was largely responsible for the growth and development of Nailsworth. As with many other Cotswold towns and villages, during the 15th-century, wool merchants descended on the town. They built fine homes for themselves and their families and they filled the fields surrounding the town with grazing sheep. The thick fleeces provided fine wool from which excellent profit was gained.

The wealthy merchants gave generously to the town and the church and it for this reason that we see in the Cotswolds the finest ‘wool’ churches in the country. Nailsworth has its share of glorious mellow honey coloured stone houses and cottages, with luxuriant foliage creeping over walls and doorways.

Outside the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man Post and Guernsey Post also decided to emulate the Royal Mail scheme when athletes from their territories won gold one each. They were initially painted green, to blend in with the landscape, however between and they were repainted bright red to better stand out. This has remained the standard colour, with only a few exceptions, such as blue for Air Mail in the s. This variously led to additional boxes being awarded, and in at least one case, a gold box being repainted red.

For cyclist Joanna Rowsell , the Royal Mail initially painted a box in Carshalton , the location of her birth, however at the request of her family this was repainted red within a few days and replaced by a gold box in nearby Cheam , where she grew up and now lives. A member of the public then vandalised a box in Lymington High Street, Hampshire, on the basis that Ainslie was a long time resident and considered a local “legend”.
